Poem of the Day: Dark Matter
Jack Myers
Dark Matter
I've lived my life as if I were my wife
packing for a trip—I'll need this and that
and I can't possibly do without that!
But now I'm about
what can be done without.
I just need a thin valise.
There's no place on earth
where I can't unpack in a flash
down to a final spark of consciousness.
No place where I can't enter
the joyless rapture
of almost remembering
I'll need this and I'll need that,
hoping to weigh less than silence,
lighter than light.

Recomendações musicais: Devin Townsend - Addicted
If there's an album I was addicted to this year, it was Devin Townsend's "Addicted". And it was surprising to me because I never heard Strapping Young Land or any other Devin's previous projects. But this really is good stuff. And it's mainstream metal too for non-metal listeners. So, I'm suggesting it both to metal lovers and to casual metal listeners or even just usual rock fans. This is a great album regardless of what you listen to and it was definitely one of the best albums to come out in 2009. This is very tasteful music, written by one of the wildest personalities in metal today, a great songwriter which is also a great musician. I really admire him for that. In the end, "Addicted" really is an addiction and so much of what the album is about has to do with it.

Álbum do mês: We Are The Void

The newest addition to my CD collection is Dark Tranquillity's "We Are The Void". The most consistent and interesting band in the melodic genre to me is back. Regardless of what people say about them, and their misconceptions about the "gothemburg sound", Dark Tranquillity is a band that lives beyond that, and was always an original force in the metal scene since the 90s. They were never a cliché, they pushed the boundaries of what their sound could be and were always very deep in their lyrics, exploring much more than the surface of things. 20 years later, they release this album and it's a celebration for me and all fans alike. The best thing that could have happened to me this year was to have them play in Lisbon later this year, in October. It'll be the first time I'm gona have the pleasure of seeing them live, after so many years as a fan. Pretty sure I'm gona cry, as it always is when I first see a band live that has touched me and changed me so thoroughly. Let the celebrations begin...
And don't you feel like a void sometimes?
